Biography
Ø
Bob
is an independent management consultant and educator, with wide
commercial and international experience and a particular interest in
value creation and capture within the more thoughtful disciplines of
marketing.
Before founding apt Strategies, Bob worked with the Marketing
Planning Centre at Cranfield University School of Management,
specializing in market led business transformation and
innovative strategy development.

Over
the past four years Bob has guided major operating divisions of IBM to
develop and successfully deploy market driven business planning, a
measure of success being that the now proven methodology has been
adopted and deployed throughout IBM.
Ø
As an ongoing architect of business
planning at IBM, Bob specifically
ibutes
the disciplined structure, market segmentation, strategy development
and 'promise of value' skills for which his colleagues at Cranfield
are recognized to be world-class.
As a facilitator in workshops where these techniques are
applied, he is renowned for patiently enabling the creation of fresh
insights, focused industry leadership and innovative strategic
outcomes.

Beyond
his continuing role at IBM, Bob's recent personal assignments have
included work for Brady (USA) and Shell.
As a consequence, he has enjoyed involvement with many
complementary ground breaking consultancies including The Chasm Group,
Mercer, McKenna and Marketing Improvements.
Ø
Today, Bob is Managing Partner of
aptStrategies (www.aptstrategies.net),
a consultancy able to tailor project participation from a powerful
group of articulate multinational specialists.
Collectively the team applies experience from a wide spectrum
of industries and marketing disciplines, to deliver practical business
solutions, key staff development and above all value.

Bob
Thorley is a physics graduate and an alumnus of the Stanford
University Business School Executive Program.
He is married, with two adult children, and lives near London,
England.
